Cadiz

Pretty uneventful day today. The city of Cadiz is fairly small so I was able to walk around most of it. Since not much happened this will be more of a photo narrative. I will include links if you are interested in what each item is. We begin with Oratory of La Santa Cueva:

I know its a bit cynical but this carving is very rapey. The children look drugged. Next is the view from atop the Torre Tavira:

They had this pretty neat thing called the 'Camera Obscura' which was pretty much this giant para-scope that projected onto a stone lens. They could move and focus it around the city and it was like a live painting. It had the feel of those big brother movies where the government satellites can pick up any image in a town from space.

Remember, don't throw puzzle pieces in the toilet. I tried to go to Gran Teatro Falla but it was closed. It is supposed to be the go to thing to see in Cadiz, oh well. Next up, the beach:

There was no real dock system for boats. They were either stored on the racks in the foreground or just dumped in the sand.

Crack alert. This guy was pretty good though. If you look there is a forest of trees he somehow was able to carve out. Next is Castillo de San Sebastian. This was also closed so I just walked around it instead. I had to scale a few walls to avoid the water but it was an interesting trek.

My hike around the castle took longer than expected so I grabbed a late lunch. I once again got the chefs special. First course was chicken couscous with a vegetable stew on top.

The second and final course was Iberian pork chops with fried potatoes and some sort of red pepper mustard sauce that was horrible because I hate both of those things. Not the best plating either.

All in all it was pretty tasty. It lacked the amount of cheese I would expect in dishes for the holiday season but I managed. After lunch it was off to the Cadiz Cortes:

And then the Cadiz Cathedral:

Dinner?

The one notable thing did happen was outside this building in one of the main squares. I didn't get a great picture of it but there where two men dressed up as Santa repelling off of the roof to the ground where children were waiting. They passed out candy then everyone shoved into the building black Friday style. There were a few TV cameras present so I assume this was a big deal. Big crowd as well.

Back to Morocco tomorrow.
