Date Night

I was unable to sleep off my sickness and still feel like crap. My head cold is coming on strong. We decided to take it easy today and just see the sights in the medina. Our first stop was a spice shop one of the workers at the hostel had recommended.

We were taken to the back room and given a demonstration on various Moroccan spices.

I had no sense of smell so I just smiled and nodded while Tim enjoyed what I am guessing smelled good.

At one point the presenter pointed out she had a remedy for congestion. We showed some interest so she took the mix of herbs off the shelf. She proceeded to put them in a handkerchief and crush them against her wrist. She then forced me to snort it. Before he knew what was happening she shoved the same bundle into Tim's face after my dose. Needless to say I wont be the only sick one for long.

After our spice tour we hit a number of sites in town.

At one point we were able to catch a dog and pony show.

The amount of traffic in this medina is crazy compared to any of the other cities we have been to. Motor bikes are whizzing through pedestrian streets all the time. Its a real display of douchebaggery. We are constantly almost being hit.

Another thing I have noticed about Marrakesh is how much white people love being white people here.

After a few hours my body decided it had had enough and I went back to bed.

I awoke a few hours later with the idea that we could see a movie. I was pretty low on energy but wanted to do something and this seemed like a good compromise. We found the local theater on a map and headed out.

The theater is located in a much more modern part of the city as compared to the medina. There was no website or any kind of schedule online so we had no idea what we would be seeing. As we approached the theater it was covered with posters fir a movie called zero. There was a small sign by the ticket both that had four different times. We were an hour early for the next showing so we decided to grab dinner at the fancy french restaurant across the street.

After dinner we returned to the theater and attempted to buy tickets. The lady told us it was an Egyptian movie in Arabic. Having no other option we purchased the tickets.

There was one other couple inside and we arrived just as the movie was starting. It turns out we would not be seeing the action film zero we had expected. Instead we saw some movie about three married men who go crazy over the hot slutty single mom who moves into their building. Their wives go to the new hussy for help on spicing up their marriages  The men proceed to treat their wives like shit until they all go to a hooker and realize they cannot cheat on them. They then have a big dance party and realize the sanctity of marriage. These clips are totally legal.

There is also some weird side story with an old man that ends with a lot of guns.

Over all it got a big two thumbs up from us. It was an overwhelming does of awesome. We did take a few lessons away from this film, the main one being that it is okay to beat women.

These guys beat the crap out of their wives throughout the movie. At one point one of them headbutted his wife unconscious to get out of having intercourse with her. The movie is a slap stick comedy but it was a bit of a culture shock. After the movie we headed back and I once again passed out. We will see how I feel tomorrow. Skiing is on the schedule.
